But public health outcomes are also shaped by things that look, on paper, like separate issues: whether a family has stable income, whether children stay in school, whether women have a path to financial independence.
Our MMU Van: The Clinical Core
The MMU delivers doctor consultations, free medicines, basic lab tests, maternal and child healthcare, NCD screening, and health counselling directly to underserved communities, run by a Medical Officer, Staff Nurse, Pharmacist, Lab Technician, Community Mobilizer, and Driver/Data Entry Operator.
Skill Development as a Public Health Intervention
Chronic stress linked to unemployment and financial insecurity has well-documented health effects. Our skill development programmes, which train youth in employable trades, indirectly support public health outcomes by giving families a more stable income base — reducing the kind of chronic stress and resource scarcity that worsens health outcomes over time.
Education as a Public Health Intervention
Children who stay in school long-term show better long-run health outcomes, partly through improved health literacy and partly through the compounding effects of family stability. Our education support programme works alongside MMU visits, since both interventions often reach the same households at the same community touchpoints.
